The Shed, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, is a refurbished storage shed that functions as a provocative and experimental site of cultural production.

Photo of Me

Situated behind a residence in the Clintonville neighborhood of Columbus, OH, The Shed is a project that turns the backyard, a private space, into a shared space for cultural exchange, building community, and the interrogation of local and global histories. The Shed is an ongoing research project that investigates the relationship between sheds and American identity. Sheds are common landmarks and as cultural phenomenon they are linked to legacies of imperialism, segregation, and material culture. The Shed is a platform for exchanging ideas and culture amongst artists, thinkers and the people of a city on the fertile ground beyond institutions.

The Shed is a research project investigating sheds as storage for excess, as gendered spaces, linked to territorialization, occupation, myth, fantasy, and as shelters. It is often mistaken for a gallery.
